Marlene Agnes Materi of Calgary passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the age of 75 years, beloved wife of the late Sil Materi. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cindy Sebastian, Darvin (Elizabeth) Materi, Lila (Greg) Sprecker, Tim Materi, Joanne Materi, Tom (Casey) Materi and Jackie (Barry) Klassen; five grandchildren, Sue, Sil, Chloe, Tyler and Jennifer and her brother Edwin (Delores) Meuchel. She was predeceased by her parents, Tillie and John Meuchel; her husband, Sil in 1971, son-in-law, Jerry Sebastian and her mother and father-in-law, Christina and Phillip Materi. Marlene was born on November 16, 1937 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and was raised and attended school in the Prelate area. In April of 1957, Marlene married Sil Materi and they later settled in Regina. Sil passed away early in their life and she was left to raise seven young children. Marlene later moved to Calgary, then Medicine Hat before returning to Calgary. She was a nurses aid at the Chinook Nursing Home in Calgary and at Cental Park Lodge in Medicine Hat. Marlene enjoyed reading, ceramics, gardening, crafts, bowling and watching sports. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will take place in Regina at a later date.
