Posted: April 15th, 2013

Emma Seitz, beloved wife of the late Albert Seitz, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at the age of 98 years with her family at her side. Emma leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Ken (Bonnie) Seitz of Strathmore, Harry (Arlene) Seitz; her daughter, Sandra (Lawrence) Neufeld, all of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren, Darcy (Colleen) Seitz (Andrew and Samantha), Tracey (Chad Polowich) Burkholder (Reilly, Raegan, Quaid), Dallas Seitz, Darla (Gordon Keeler) Stewart (Bailee), Noella (Juan) Melendez (Kayla and Zenan), Christa Neufeld (Jordan), Danny (Seigharra) Neufeld (Kynnlei), and Sara Neufeld. She is also survived by three sisters, Doris (Ben) Martin, Melba Fauser, and Edna Rieger. Emma was the loving wife of Albert for 68 years before his passing in 2004. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Ottilia Enslen; two brothers, John and Bill; three sisters, Hanna Seitz, Mary Seitz, and Frieda Boschee; and one grandson, Darrel in 1959. Emma was born and raised in the Wisdom area where she met and married the love of her life, Albert. They farmed in the Little Plume area before moving to Eagle Butte. They farmed and ranched there for 25 years before moving to Medicine Hat. Emma lived for her family. She guided her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on a wonderful life journey. She worked on the family farm raising her children with much love. As well as an excellent homemaker, Emma was an excellent gardener (peppers and tomatoes were always in demand by family and friends). She could grow almost anything (houseplants included). Albert and Emma moved to Chinook Village in 2002, then in July of 2012, Emma moved to Assisted Living also in Chinook Village. During her declining health, she never lost her desire to continue daily exercise and chores. Emma was a special friend to many and will be missed. Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the Palliative Care Unit and 5East at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital as well as the wonderful staff and caregivers at Chinook Village for the kindness and excellent care she received.
