ELAINE TRUDY WORTS
Posted: May 10th, 20131933 ~ 2013 With heavy hearts the family of Elaine (Trudy) Worts, beloved wife of the late Mr. Allan (Shorty) Worts, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the age of 80 years.
Trudy was born March 2, 1933, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, a daughter to proud parents, Herbert and Lillian Strobel. As a young girl the family moved to Redcliff where she grew up and received her schooling. Following her school years, she remained in Redcliff where she worked at the Glass Factory. In 1950, she met a strapping, young cowboy (who she thought was very handsome) named Allan Worts. They were married March 29, 1952 in Redcliff. They later moved to Medicine Hat where they embraced their life and raised a family of three boys, Glenn, Dale and Corie. Trudy was a social butterfly and was well liked by everyone she knew. She was always welcoming and accepted people for who they were – never judging them. These were some of the great qualities that made her unique and loveable. She made many true friends throughout her life and looked forward to her coffee outings with them. Trudy was a wonderful, family oriented mother and grandmother. She made their house a home and was an incredible cook and would fill the house with the scent of her baking. She mastered the “lopsided birthday cakes” and even though she gave her chocolate chip cookie recipe out, the taste was never the same as hers – perhaps the missing ingredient was the love she put in them. Trudy was a generous, caring person will be dearly missed by her family including her three sons, Glenn (Karen) Werts and their family, Kendra, Layne (Derrick) – Zoey; Dale (Deb) Worts and their family Dylan (Amy) – Laik and Neko, Dustin and Darren; Corrie (Kimberly) Worts and their family Larry and Emma; sister, Vernice Strobel; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Worts and Gordy Kaser as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Trudy was predeceased by her husband, Allan (Shorty) in 2009; two sisters, Vivian and Audrey as well as numerous other relatives. Trudy’s life will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 13, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bob McGougan officiating. Private columbarium placement will follow at Hillside Cemetery. I just wanted to send my condolences! I had the pleasure of getting to know Trudy at Perkins Restaurant over the years as well as Glenn/Karen & family. I always looked forward to the coffee gals coming in. It gave me a chance to sit down and chit chat. She sure was a talker. 🙂 She shared so many stories about her family and kids. She loved and treasured all of you. My heart is with you during this time. Her memories and love will live on forever.
Blessing & Love
