1935 ~ MACTIER ~ 2013
Posted: May 13th, 2013Mrs. Jean Mactier of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Glenn Mactier, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Jean leaves to cherish her memory four children, Randy Uhl (Marie Gelowitz) of Grayson, Saskatchewan, Mitchell Uhl (Diane Drummond) of Killaly, Saskatchewan, Cheryl (Trevor) Slaymaker of Red Deer and Denise Uhl of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Sarah (Jay) Alexander and their daughter, Sophie, Meghan (Jason) Bezruchak and their sons, Kade and Bowen, Erin (John) Manchuk, Breanne Dickey, Hayden Slaymaker, Kenzie Slaymaker; a brother, Monte (Elaine) Keith; a sister, Ruth Horney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Glenn Mactier; her parents, Gordon and Violet Keith; her step- father, Herb Leake; and one sister, Ruby Furber. Jean was employed by the government of Alberta for many years at the Youth Assessment Center. Her joys included reading, knitting and spending time outdoors, camping with Glenn and travelling to new locations when time allowed. Over the past few years she spent summers at Golden Sheaf Park. Jean loved animals and has asked that donations be made to the SPCA. A lifelong Legion member Jean was active in the Legionnaires for many years. She was known to make the best homemade chocolates every Christmas, which everyone looked forward to. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, May 16th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating, with a lunch to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion. Memorial gifts in Jeans memory may be made to the S.P.C.A., 55 Southwest Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8.
