Walter Brodin passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the age of 89 years, beloved husband of Betty Brodin of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Sandra Hofer (Tony Davis), Linda (Mike) Baisley and Verna (Don) Scott; six grandchildren, Kristian, Dianne (Mark), Laurie (Fabian) (their children, Olivia, Mason and Cohen), Scott (Kalan) (their son, Kash), Catherine (Les) (their daughter, Adyson) and Stuart; one sister-in-law, Sonja (Henry) Rieder as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his dear friend Ivan (Marie) Marthaller. He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Olaf Brodin; four brothers, Arthur, Gottard, Ernest, Oscar and Rolf and two sisters, Hulda and Signe. Walter was born, raised and farmed in the Orion area until 1974. After leaving the farm Walter sold real estate in Medicine Hat. He was a loving husband, a wonderful dad and an amazing grampa. Walter was well known for his dedication to his community and friends. He was always there to lend a hand on the farm, in the condo, the church or while on the road in their motorhome. Meeting new people and sharing a story with old friends was a favourite pastime. Baseball, music and dancing brought him great pleasure. His kind and generous disposition will be sorely missed. The funeral service will be held in Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Drive SE) on Tuesday, May 15, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Barrett Scheske officiating.
