Mr. Ralph Murray of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Donna Murray, passed away on Wednesday, June 5th, 2013 at the age of 70 years. Ralph leaves to cherish his children, Justin Murray of France, Jared (Holly) Murray of Calgary, Jordon (Stephanie) Murray of Lethbridge and Jennifer (Rob) Mountenay of Belleville, Ontario; seven grandchildren, Hunter, Marshall and Truman, Serena, Bethany, James and Joshua; four brothers, Doug Murray, Bruce Murray, Frank Murray and Ted Reed; one sister, June Basi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his wife, Donna; his parents, William and Dora; three brothers, Phil, Mac and Norman; and three sisters, Rachel, May and Jean. Ralph was born on May 6th, 1943 at the family farm near Chelan, Saskatchewan. He loved animals as expressed by his commitment to the welfare and safety of rodeo animals after his retirement from the sport in 1995. Ralph was instrumental in the changing of rules in favor of the animals in many events. He served until his passing as Animal Safety Welfare Coordinator with the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association. Ralph was a Honorary Director with the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede, a founding member of the Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds, a member of the Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat, a member of the Valley Ridge Country Club of Calgary and Lee Creek Golf Club of Cardston, Alberta. Ralph was inducted into the Canadian Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame on October 22nd, 2011. He enjoyed landscaping, collecting rocks for their fish ponds, exploring the wonders of the Prairies, and chasing that little white ball. Ralph will be fondly remembered and forever missed by all those who knew and loved him. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, # 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, June 7th, 2013 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and at CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, 7 Sierra Boulevard SW, on Saturday, June 8th, 2013 from 9:00 until 9:55 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held in CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS on Saturday, June 8th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Gary Prince officiating.
