Posted: November 8th, 2013

October 7, 1940 ~ November 6, 2013 Patricia Mary Owens of Medicine Hat, passed into the arms of her beloved Savior on the evening of November 6th.

Patricia was born October 7, 1940 in Shaunavon, Sask. to David Robert Owens and Dorothy Lila May Baker Owens, both previously deceased.  Patricia is survived by her bereaved and loving family:  brother, Robert David (Geraldine) Owens of Washington, Utah and sister, Margaret Carol (Wayne) Savigny of Vancouver;  nieces, Tara Lynne (Matt) Harmon of Richmond, Va., Meghan (Desmond Hope) Savigny of Toronto, On., Gillian (Zac Schier) Savigny of Toronto, On. and Allison (Steve Richards) Savigny of Vancouver as well as one nephew, David Findlay (Lisa) Owens of Enoch, Utah.  Pat is also survived by seven grand-nieces and nephews.  With uncommon courage and strength, Pat confronted physical limitations and the complexities of cerebral palsy throughout her life.  Her deep spiritual surety, provided an unwavering compass to guide and direct her.  Her unyielding Faith was her source of life giving comfort, peace and solace.  Pat was granted an incredible grace in friendships throughout her life.  She loved to love.  Most importantly, she understood the sweetness in loving and serving others.  Her passion was working with children, first as a Learning Assistant and then as a teacher.  She understood and was gifted in working with children with special needs and delighted in being a kindergarten teacher.  She did so with gusto.  Throughout the ten years that our mother was in care, Pat lovingly cared to her, administering to her on a daily basis.  In her recent period of declining health, these blessings were returned to her in magnificent abundance by the many who loved her.  Pat will be dearly missed by those she loved, and who love her.  We openly celebrate a life of one who blessed the lives of all who were privileged to know her.  To all the kind people at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice, you attended to Pat with dignity, compassion and tender care.  To each of you, the family wishes to express our deep gratitude.  We also wish to express our appreciation to those who cared for Pat at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.  A service to remember and celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 504 – 2 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Monday, November 11, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Dr. Nancy Cocks officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.  (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cooksouthland.com)   Honoured to serve the family is Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13th Street S.W.
