EMILIE ANNE MacFARLANE
Posted: February 11th, 2014
February 11, 1993 – January 18, 2014
With great sadness we announce the passing of Emilie Anne MacFarlane, daughter to Jeff MacFarlane (Angie) and Marie-Claude Ratthé (David Chalk), sister to Patrick, André, Abigail and Claire MacFarlane in Quebec City on January 18, 2014. She will be forever 20. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, including grandparents Jim and Joanne MacFarlane, Jean-Marie and Madeleine Ratthé, and Brian and Mary Ann Cline; aunts, uncles: Cathy (Sheldon) Regier, Tannis (Blake) Kelly, Christian Ratthé (Josée Collard), Étienne Ratthé (Caroline Lizotte), Melissa Hubert, Andy (Melissa Vanderleek) Cline, Sue (Mike) Head, Chris Pedersen as well as numerous cousins, friends and extended family.
Emilie was born in Calgary, on Feb.11, 1993. She was the first grandchild on both sides of the family. It was so easy to spoil this blonde, curly-haired little girl. In 1997 the family moved to Redcliff, where Emilie attended Connaught School and École Les Cyprès. During this time, Emilie enjoyed learning to play the piano. Her love of the piano grew so much that she later began composing music. Emilie also participated in numerous Childrens Theatre productions and at the Rotary Music Festival. In 2006, Marie-Claude, Dave, Emilie, Patrick and André moved to Quebec City where they could be closer to the Ratthé side of the family. Here, she continued her education at Mont-Saint-Sacrement, finishing her Cegep at Sainte-Foy. Emilie had many interests – music, languages, economics, history and archeology, for which she attended Université Laval. Emilie had a promising life ahead of her, but cancer does not play favorites. Emilie was diagnosed in March 2013 with a rare form of cancer. She fought the cancer with everything she had and did so with a smile on her face – always looking for the bright side. We are all blessed to have had 20 plus years with you, Beautiful! Thanks for always being you! Love you, forever and always.
Funeral Services were held in Quebec City on January 23, 2014. Emilies Alberta family is hoping to have a celebration of her life this summer in Medicine Hat.
