Posted: April 8th, 2014Viola Parke of Red Deer, AB passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in the hospital on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Viola was born May 26th, 1921 at Gros Ventre, AB. It was there she received her education. Viola met her husband, Henry Frank and the couple married at Hilda, Alberta. There they farmed and began a family. Later they moved to Black Diamond, Didsbury, and finally settled in Calgary, where they raised their family. Henry passed away in 1971. Viola remained in Calgary where she married Al Parke. In 1979 they moved to Brooks and after Al passed away in 1988 she moved to Red Deer to be near her family. Here she lived at the Piper Creek Lodge until her passing.
Viola was a strong, independent woman. She loved playing cards, socializing and dancing. Viola will be lovingly remembered by her son, Harvey Frank of Calgary, two daughters, Gladys (Ron) Miller of Red Deer and Laurie MacLean of Surrey, BC, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by both her husbands, her parents, one brother and a sister. Cremation has been entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium in Red Deer. Interment will take place at a later date at Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary where she will be reunited with Henry. If desired, Memorial Donations in Violas honor may be made to a Charity of the donors choice.
