Helen Suttie of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 at the age of 97 years. Helen leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Harry Schmidt of Medicine Hat; two sisters, Ida Young of Ottawa, Ontario and Jean (Harvey) Merritt of Brentwood Bay, BC; brother-in-law, Harvey Jespersen of Wetaskiwin; as well as numeorusnieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Donald Suttie; her parents, Henry and Helen Schmidt; her sisters, Bertha Wuerfel, Hilda Carson, Tina Schmidt, and Elsie Jespersen; and brothers-in-law, Walter Wuerfel, Jack Carson and Ralph Young. Helen was born on the family farm in the Sandy Point District with Mrs. Rassler, the midwife, in attendance. Helen was a resident of Calgary since 1938. An inquisitive, joyous soul, Helen possessed a great sense of humourand had a fondness for travel. The Memorial Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, October 21st, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating.
