It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bruce Widdis, beloved husband of the late Elaina Widdis, at the St. Josephs Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Saturday, November 15, 2014. His memory will be forever cherished by his son, Don Widdis; daughters, Deb Widdis and Bonnie (Kirk) Ewasechko; six grandchildren: Jaubron and Broyce Widdis, Katarina, Kari, Krista and Kate Ewasechko; sisters, Doris (Gordon) Dunn and Marlene Barrie; mother-in-law, Hazel Boylan; in-laws, Janet Sharpe, Rodger (Marj) Boylan, Gwen (Ed) Hammel, Patti (Carl) Jaindl and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Iona; father-in-law, Roy Boylan; brother, Gordon and brother-in-law, Phil Barrie. Bruce was born and raised in the Sceptre area, where he also met and married his loving wife of 51 years. While raising a family, he farmed and worked for Boylan Electric until 1972 when they relocated to Burstall. He bought grain for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and he and Elaina taught dance lessons in the surrounding area. In 1997, they moved to Medicine Hat in order to enjoy more time with their grandchildren. Working at the Lawn Shop fulfilled a need to fix things and became the hub of his social life, as well as his regular meetings with his coffee buddies. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. A special thank you to Dr. Tom Mohanraj and staff for their compassionate care and friendship. A Celebration of Bruces life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating.
