Henry “Art” Ratcliff, much loved husband of the late Wilma Joyce Ratcliff, passed away on Sunday, December 6th, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Art leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Jennifer Alwyn (Joe) Buckler, Trevor (Melanie), and Allistair. Left to carry on his legacy are his grandchildren, Warren (Carla) Buckler, Ian Buckler, Charlotte Ratcliff, Emily Ratcliff and David Ratcliff. The lights of Art’s life were his two great-grandsons, Kaedan and Cooper Buckler. Art greatly appreciated the time spent with his “other” granddaughter, Paloma. Art loved to spend time at the family cabin in Elkwater. Before Wilma’s passing, they enjoyed a six-week motorhome trek to the Yukon with their daughter, Alwyn and son-in-law, Joe. Art had a 30-year career with the Medicine Hat Police Service after working for six years on the Edmonton Police Force. He was honoured by the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and received the rank of 33rd degree mason. Art enjoyed the fellowship and friendship of his Order of the Eastern Star brothers and sisters. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Church in Redcliff which he referred to as his second family. Art was predeceased by his son, Warren in 1964. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Good Sam’s who cared for our dad with such devotion and love, “you light up my life”. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, December 12th, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. David J. Carter officiating.
