Sadly this notice is to announce the sudden passing of Melissa Ann Johnson, aged 40. There will be a BBQ to celebrate her life on Sunday May 22, 2016 at the Kin Coulee Toboggan Hill from 1-3pm Melissa was a loving and doting mother to Tavia Hannay-Johnson (aged 9). She will be missed and fondly remembered for her spunk, generosity and good natured attitude. Melissa was a strong, independent woman who blossomed into an amazing mother, daughter, sister and friend. Melissa was predeceased by her mother Elaine Ann Johnson (1993), and father figure Ron Duke (2005) and both maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her daughter Tavia Hannay-Johnson, Darryn Hannay, Wanda Duke, Ronnie Duke (Jamie & Olivia), Guy Duke (Gaylene, Josh & Julia), Herb Johnson, Sonia Kiriakova and her siblings Pamela Johnson (Brody), Damien Johnson (Junie, Ria & Sydney), Nygle Johnson and Ambrosia Johnson; and numerous aunts uncles and cousins. She will be missed by all of those who had the opportunity to know and love her.

So sorry for your loss. I knew Melissa growing up and we stayed connected through Facebook. We had a couple of conversations in the past year and what stands out for me most is the love and pride she had for her daughter. Her greatest wish was that she would be taken care of and loved. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
The Lochan family (Audra’s mom) didn’t know Melissa but knowing she was your sister Pam, we understand the beautiful giving person she must have been. Our love and deep condolences to you and your family. If you need anything at all during this difficult time, this family is yours. We love you.
How I miss you and always will. I’m so blessed to have had you in my life. I will cherish our memories.

We were supposed to grow old together and watch our kids have kids, and laugh until we cried, forever.
Try as they will, they can take away our pictures, texts and emails, but nobody will ever be able to take the memories that we made and shared. We know what we shared and nobody can take that away.
You took care of me our whole lives. You told me when I was wrong. You told me when I was right. You had my back amd protected me unconditionally. And most importantly, you believed in me.
As we got older you were living in the ‘now’ and I was always preparing for the future. I thought I was teaching you something, but now that you’re gone, I realize that I’m still learning lessons from you.
I will never stop loving and protecting you.
I will get old without you. I will watch our kids grow and live and develop their own families. And I will continue to laugh. I will choose to live in the ‘now’
You made an impact on my life.
You saved me, from me, a million times.

Words cannot express the eternal sadness I now have in my life on hearing of the untimely passing of Melissa or MJ as I called her. I was married to MJ in Red Deer in “97 and have 7 wonderful years in with her in the Hat. She forced changed my life as we were each other first true love.
She was always a beacon of light for those people who’s lives she touched. My thoughts and condolences go out the her family, friends and all those who knew her.
