Sandra Fay “Sandy” Soltis (nee Ward) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018, at the age of 68 years, with her beloved husband, Don, by her side. Sandy was born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Gibsons, BC. She joined the Canadian Forces in 1973. After 18 years of service, she was medically released, due to injuries, as a sergeant. She met and married Don in 1978 and for 40 years they led an adventurous life, travelling to the USA and many countries in Europe. Sandy enjoyed camping, travel, and meeting people. Over the past 40 years, Sandy fought many medical battles successfully, but unfortunately she didn’t win the last one. Sandy continually helped people, and during her life she a ssisted 53 foster children in improving their lives. She had many passions including sewing, embroidering, quilting, and Toll painting, just to mention a few, and was extremely good at everything she did. She loved her family and was very proud of them. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Gerry (June) Ward of 93 Mile House; sisters, Lyn of Surrey, BC, and Karen (Stan) Sopow of Gibsons, BC; sister-in-law, Faye (Jerrie) Zahn and Debbie ( Harold) Motz of Medicine Hat, AB, Murray (Janine) Soltis of Morden, MB; along with numerous uncles, aunts, great nieces, and nephews. She dearly loved her 4 fur babies, 3 of which greeted her on her arrival in Heaven.
The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB, on Monday, January 7th, 2019 at 10:00 am with Mike Tivadar officiating. At Sandy’s request, please dress casual. Memorial gifts in Sandy’s memory may be made to the Medicine Hat SPCA, 55 Southview Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8. .
