1923 ~ MARJORIE GAFFNEY ~ 2019

Marjorie Gwendolyn Gaffney (nee Bissett) of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Richard “Dick” Gaffney, passed away on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 at the age of 95 years. Marjorie leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Joyce Oshiro of Abbotsford, BC; nephews, Don (Mona) Girling, Harry (Shirley) Gaffney, and Richard (Penny) Gaffney; great-nephews, Cody (Amanda) Girling and Cameron (Rachel) Girling; great-nieces, Janice Arnot and Sandra Gaffney; great-great-nieces, Asia, Rebekah, Aella, and Emma; and many other nieces and nephews. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Richard, and her parents, William and Olive Bissett; her sister, Audrey Girling and her brother-in-law, Bob Girling. Marjorie was born and raised in Dunmore, Alberta; attending the Dunmore school where she enjoyed acting and theatre. She met the love of her life, Dick, when she attended high school in Medicine Hat, and they married in 1944 while Dick was serving during the war. Throughout their years together they made their homes in Calgary, AB; Phoenix, AZ; and Vernon, BC. Both Marj and Richard had a life-long passion for golf and they were also very adventurous, travelling Europe and North America. After the passing of her parents, Marj and Dick retired to Marj’s childhood homestead in Dunmore. She loved animals and was very fond of cats, especially Tigger” and “Pepper” who were very special to her. Marj loved to read and do crossword puzzles and socialize with those around her. Marj was also very proud of her Scottish heritage and loved the sounds of the highland bagpipes. Marj’s family is very grateful to all of her caregivers at Meadowlands that have watched over her these past years.
