It is with heartfelt sadness and joy for a life well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Anita Darlene Stimson of Medicine Hat. Anita passed away in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the age of 61 years. She will forever live on in the hearts of her husband of 41 years Gary; children, Deanna (Rob) Doerksen, Adele (Sandy) Henderson and Brittany (Raymond) Ferron. Her memory will also be cherished by her seven beautiful grandchildren, Kate, Devon, Jack, Blaire, West, Brooke and Brielle. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne (Evelyn) Cummins; sister, Debra Cummins (Bart) as well as a large extended family. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Marie Cummins and parents-in-law, Park and Dona Stimson. Anita will always be remembered for living life passionately. She was a joy to be around and loved entertaining family and friends. Anita enjoyed working in her beautiful yard, playing golf, shopping and spending time with her family. She loved to travel and together with Gary, visited many places around the world. Her favorite trips included going to Africa in 2017, France and Spain with her girls in 2018 and of course we can’t leave out her annual trips to Vegas. Anita was a beautiful soul and we will forever miss her wisdom along with her easy-going nature and playful personality. She was a woman of grace. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Duke and the Home Care team, especially Amy, for their kindness and support. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, September 27, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Anita’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Borrows officiating. Private interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Anita’s name may be made directly to the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund, 3257 Dunmore Road S.E., Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 7E6. Anita will soar with the Best and mightiest of all angels.I am so very sorry to hear of your loss Gary and Family.Anita had a platinum personality,always so kind,and thoughtful.Gary once told my (now deceased)mother that if we liked him,we’d love Anita.!How accurate you were Gary,you had a wonderful relationship and such respect for one another.So admirable.If you were a friend of Anita’s she had a gift of making you feel your pretty special as well.Ive had the pleasure of having many discussions with Anita…always open for your view,and always ready for a good laugh…and so ,so kind during hard times.Anita will surely be missed by many,my prayers are with all of you . such a loss.
