Lyle Gay Smith passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019, with family by his side. He was born in Eureka, California, on April 14th, 1954. He is survived by his brothers Guy (Gay) Smith and Gary Smith, and his sister Gail (Jason) Smith. He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous nieces and nephews. He attended Crescent Heights High School where he excelled in many sports, continuing his education at the University of Calgary earning a Bachelor of Education with distinction. During his years of teaching, he inspired and encouraged many students to attain higher educational goals. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019, 2-5pm, location to be determined.
