JOSEPHINE KLEIN

Josephine Pauline Klein, beloved wife of the late George Klein, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the age of 96 years. Left to cherish Josephine’s memory are her children: Diana (Joe) Reeves, Dennis (Bev) Klein, Peggy Klein, Marilyn (Harj) Hari, Gerard Klein; grandchildren: Greg (Tani) Klein, Josh Hari, Bretton Hari, Amanda (Alex) Coldham, Cameron Klein; great-grandchildren: Mila Klein and Oscar Klein; siblings, Bill (Julia) Hellman and Vanny (Sylvia) Hellman. Along with her husband of 70 years, George, Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Matthew (Barbara) Hellman; siblings, Cecilia (Emmanuel) Loran, Nick (Theresa) Hellman, Matthew (Selma) Hellman, Betty (Pat) Mooney, Clare (Joe) Redmond, Barbara (George) Peters, Jack (Lillian) Hellman, Anne Hellman and Father Harry Hellman. Josephine was born the ninth of twelve children and grew up on the family farm located south of Burstall, north of Richmound. After completing high school, she attended Normal School in Moose Jaw (1942). Josephine then returned to teach kindergarten at Etna School (1943) where she met George Klein, the love of her life. They were married in 1944. It was then that George left the family farm and took over the Hicke farm at Linacre. A short time later, they purchased the existing farm near Liebenthal. Josephine’s door was always open to family and friends. She loved to cook and bake which always allowed for great aromas coming from the kitchen. Josephine enjoyed going to daily mass, walking, bowling, dancing, playing cards, gardening, traveling, flowers, time spent with friends and taking care of people. She was a lifelong member of the CWL at both St. Patrick’s parish and Holy Family parish. Josephine was very devoted to her family… they will miss her immensely. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so starting one hour prior to Vigil Prayers which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be offered at the church starting one hour prior to the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Josephine’s name may be made driectly to St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice, 156 – 3 Street N.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 5M1.
