Beloved wife of the late Emanuel Houff, Minnie leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Brian (Barbara) Houff and Rocky (Denise) Houff, all of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Troy (Teresa) Houff, Travis (Shannon) Houff, Tanya (Tim) Ellis, Kimberly (Sam) Roy, Amanda Houff and Darren (Nikki) Houff; ten great grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; two sisters, Violet Houff and Leona Leismeister; one sister-in-law, Emily Howkins; as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Minnie was predeceased by her husband Emanuel; her daughter, Valerie Scholten; great grandchild, Jett Ellis; her parents; Olga and Otto Sieppert; and two sisters, Jean Vaughn and Arlene Schimpf. Minnie was born August 31st, 1929 in Hanna, Alberta, the second eldest in a family of five girls. Her family farmed in the beautiful Hand Hills area. She met her forever partner, Emanuel (Mannie) in Medicine Hat and after a very short courtship, they wed on August 31st, 1949. Life as a dairy farmer’s wife was one of long days and demanding work; hours spent alongside Emanuel tending to their cows and a list of endless chores. She kept a meticulous house and raised three children with patience, understanding and love. In retirement, she enjoyed sewing and gardening and she loved to visit. She cherished her family and everyone knew her kind and gentle soul. Her family adored her. She was the sweetest, perfect Grandma. A little bit feisty, a little bit funny and a whole lot of stubborn. Her love was true and infinite. Her absence will be profoundly felt by many. When we hear the cheerful melody of a meadowlark singing his beautiful song, we will think of you Grandma Minnie and smile. You are forever in our hearts. A private family funeral service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, with interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
