Posted: July 16th, 2020Larry John Lesko, beloved husband of Helen Lesko, passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2020 at the age of 68 years. Larry leaves to cherish his memory his children, Chad (Carrie) and their children, Brody and Skylar; Damien and his children Samantha and Owen; Chelsea (Dylan) and their children, Allie and Evan. He will be lovingly remembered by five brothers, two sisters and their families. Larry was born on December 20th, 1951 in Montmartre, Saskatchewan. He married Helen Weisgerber, the love of his life, on June 26th, 1976. He was employed as a yardmaster with CP Rail for 35 years. Larry was an avid pool player and could be found in his spare time playing pool at the Veiner Centre and golfing with his family. Larry took pride in his 1973 ‘Cuda and attended many car shows with many close friends. Larry was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings as the family organizer, as he could often be found thinking of ways to get the family together. He had a great sense of humour and loved to share stories from the past. Above all, Larry cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren and took great joy in spending time with family and friends. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on July 16th, 2020. Video streaming of the Prayer Service will be available on the Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel website at www.saamis.com beginning at 7:00 pm. on Thursday, July 16th, 2020. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Friday, July 17th, 2020, with Father Tomy Manjaly, Celebrant. Due to COVID19 restrictions, attendance is limited to immediate family and close friends. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Larry’s memory may be made to the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation for the Marjery E. Yuill Cancer Centre, 666 – 5 St SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 4H6.
