ANITA MARGARET SCHMIDT (nee Labbé)

January 12, 1934 ~ May 27, 2020

Peacefully, on Wednesday, May 27, our dear Mom and Baba passed away at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg, MB., with her two daughters by her side. She was 86 years old. Anita is survived by her daughters, Janet (Dave) and Susan (Claude); daughters-in-law, Tara and Wanda; grandchildren, Trevor, Katie, Chelsea, Lindsay, Cody and Steven as well as great-grandchildren, Oliver, Aven, Luke, Riley, Ivy and Felix. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; sons, Jigger and Fred and granddaughter, Miranda. A Celebration of Anita’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., with Deacon Terry Olson officiating. Due to current restrictions in place from the Chief Medical Officer of Health regarding COVID – 19, the funeral service will be limited to no more than 100 attendees including family and funeral home staff. Anita’s celebration will be live streamed through the Cook Southland website. Private Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with the family joining friends for the fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
