PENROSE

George Brian Penrose died, unexpectedly, on the 11th of September 2021, in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was born in Medicine Hat, on the 31st of October 1956. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Dr George and Mrs. Margaret (nee Bath) Penrose and is survived by his beloved partner of over two decades, Luana Nasser. He is also survived by his sister, Jan and sister-in-law Elaine Bradley (Edinburgh, Scotland) and his brother John (Medicine Hat, Canada), as well as two nephews, Thomas and Curtis Penrose. It was with deep sorrow that I read about Brian’s passing. He was a kind soul and wonderful friend.
Very sad to hear of “Pen”’s passing. Brian was a very amusing fellow who I first met in the 1970s when we were residents at the Lister Hall student residence at the University of Alberta. We spent many hours over the next several years playing sports with the Lonestars and enjoying many live music opportunities all fueled by appropriate libations. We were lucky to get to meet Brian’s younger brother John who was known to all as “young” Pen. My sincerest condolences go out to all his family and loved ones. We have surely lost a true character.
