Sharon Gail McDowell of Medicine Hat passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 1st, 2021, at the age of 74 years.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory, her Husband, Dave McDowell; daughters, Gail (Dave) Toth of Medicine Hat, Cindy (Andrew) Mac Ewen of Kansas and Kenny Hawkins (Kris Carruthers) of Cultus Lake,BC; step children, Crista Cleroux (Kris Sebastian) and Carmen McDowell (Sean); sister Carol “Toots” Schock; sisters-in-law, Faye Southwood, Theresa Armstrong, Beth (Bob) King; her adoring grandchildren, Riley (Sarah) Toth, Zachary (Renee) Toth, Kylie and Kenna Mac Ewen, Ben and Kimberly Cleroux, Alex and Andrew Thiessen; her first great granddaughter, Hadlee Toth, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, Hart and Adeline “Peggy” Peterson; sister, Denise Haranyi and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Sharon was born in Medicine Hat, AB on November 27, 1946. She retired from AGT after 20 years of service and also owned and operated The Bookshop she loved so much, both of these brought her many lifelong friends. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, an excellent baker and holiday host and otherwise had her nose in a book. Sharon, Mom, Mummers, was a loving and loyal mother, wife and friend. She LOVED every moment spent with her family and friends!

Her celebration of life will be held at Westminster United Church, 101 6 St SE, Medicine Hat at 3:00pm on Friday, November 5, 2021. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the maximum number is 50 people to attend the service. For those unable to attend, a recording of the service will be available at www.gracememorial on Sharon’s tribute page.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of one’s choice may be made.
