HELEN LEISMEISTER 1923 – 2022
It is with tremendous sadness we say goodbye to an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Helen Leismeister passed away peacefully on December 26, 2022, at the age of 99 years surrounded by her family. Helen was born April 4, 1923 in Saskatchewan to parents John and Mary Hoffner, along with four brothers and five sisters. In December of 1940 she wed Basil Leismeister in Richmond, Saskatchewan. Helen and Basil were one another’s lifelong companions, and they were blessed with two children, Alvina and Brent. In her earlier years, Helen enjoyed spending her spare time bowling, baking for her family, and dancing. As she got older her passion for the Toronto Blue Jays grew stronger. Helen is predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years and son Brent. She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Frances DeBoer and Irene Hoffner; daughter, Alvina Dietz; grandchildren, Wendy Dietz and Darrell (Shanin) Dietz; and great-grandchildren, Darren (Inkara) Dietz and Kennedy Dietz. She will be held close within our hearts and there she will remain. Special thanks to Dr. Jeraj and South County Haven for their outstanding care. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1Z5, , on Friday, January 6th, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Deacon Terry Olson officiating.
