LYLE GLEDDIE 1940 ~ 2022

Lyle Gene Gleddie of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Karan Gleddie passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022, at the age of 82 years.
Lyle was born in Medicine Hat on October 7, 1940, and he was raised in Tilley, Alberta. His parents were Trygve and Hedvig Gleddie and he had one older brother, Trevor, and one younger brother, Cyril. The family had a robust farm and ranch with sheep and cattle which Lyle grew up working on.
Lyle attended and graduated from Tilley High School. After high school, he attended Prairie High School, Prairie Bible College, and Mount Royal College. At Mount Royal College, he played football and he was recruited for the Calgary Stampede farm team.
In 1962, Lyle met Karan at Prairie High School. In 1963, they were married, and they had three daughters, Melissa, Vanessa, and Felicia. The family resided at Gleddie Ranches in Tilley until 2000. After 2000, Lyle and Karan moved to various areas before settling in Foremost and more recently Medicine Hat.
Lyle was known for his faith in God, love for music and singing, quick wit and sense of humor, and cattle ranching expertise. He spent years crafting his Red Angus cattle herd with his specialized training in genetics and artificial insemination. When he was not thinking about cattle, his interests involved spending time with his family, attending church, and singing in quartets and choirs.
Besides his wife, Lyle Gleddie is survived by his children, Melissa (and Jerry) Steeves, Vanessa Kurtzweg, and Felicia (and Sebastian) Bloem. He had many grandchildren, as follows: Bryce (and Jackie) Steeves; Ashley (and Eric) Bateman; Chad (and Julie) Steeves; Caitlyn (and Tim) Aitken; Colton (and Jaelynn) Kurtzweg; and Karina Kurtzweg. He also had ten great grandchildren.
