ANNE PLANTE January 4, 1939 ~ January 6, 2023 It is with a heavy heart that Lawrence ‘Larry’ Plante announces his beloved wife of 66 years, Anne Theresa Plante, passed away in Medicine Hat on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the age of 84 years. Along with Larry, Anne leaves to cherish her memory: son, Thomas (Wanda) Plante; daughter, Catherine (Geoffrey) Ringrose; grandchildren, Elliot (Chelsea) Plante, Mellissa Plante, and Casey (Meagan) Ringrose; great-grandchildren, Jack Graham, Nash and Colt Ringrose; sister-in-law, Louise Mallaghan and brother-in-law, Jack Gebert as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Susan Mallaghan; brother, Patrick; sister, Mary and two bothers in infancy. Anne was born and raised in Regina, SK., attending Sacred Heart School and Scott Collegiate before obtaining her university degree from the University of Regina. She married the love of her life, Lawrence Francis Plante in 1957, at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Regina, becoming a stay at home wife and mother. Anne eventually was employed with the Government of Saskatchewan working in many departments and retiring from Consumer Affairs in 1991. They moved to Creston, B.C., then back to Medicine Hat, eventually settling in Chinook Village. Anne enjoyed travelling and visited many US states, most of Canada, Spain as well as Belfast, Ireland where she visited her father’s birthplace as well as the pub that her grandfather owned. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders, shopping, reading murder mysteries, sewing and following the news. Anne lived life to the fullest and was looking forward to many happy years at Chinook Village. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so starting one hour prior to the service. The service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with Deacon Robert Risling celebrant. A time of fellowship will follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. Interment will take place in the spring at the Regina Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Anne’s name may be made directly to Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat, AB., T1B 4V3.
