ALVIN MEHLHAFF 1929 ~ 2023 Mr. Alvin Mehlhaff, beloved husband of 72 years to Viola, passed away peacefully at Masterpiece Southland Meadows in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the age of 93 years. Along with Viola, Alvin’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of his four children: Gwen Mayzes, Barbara (Steve) Stoyanac, Mark (Karen) Mehlhaff and Robin (Gerrit) Winkelaar. Alvin took great joy in time spent with his numerous grandchildren and their families, all of whom he loved very much! Alvin was born in Empress, Alberta on March 9, 1929. He served 6 years in the Canadian Air Force, then 3 years with the Navy before serving in the reserves for another 17 years until 1974. His love for flying saw him join Conair as a pilot shortly thereafter, a job he excelled at for the next 25 years until his retirement. Although his career had him flying high in the sky, he always had a place in his heart for farming. Alvin enjoyed ice fishing and he was always up for a good game of cribbage (something he was wicked good at!) Alvin’s life will be honoured and his memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal service. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com). If friends so desire, donations in memory of Alvin may be made directly to the Salvation Army or the charity of one’s choice. Honoured to serve the family is

2 Condolences for “ALVIN MEHLHAFF”

  1. Peggy Davis says:

Viola, every bit of my heart goes out to you and your family during this time. Please accept my sympathy.

  2. John & Moyna Laing says:

Our condolences go our to all “Stumpy’s” family. Many fire season memories spent in Kamloops, Castlegar and other bases here in British Columbia would not have been the same without Al and Viola’s presence.

He was a true gentleman, a great aircraft Captain and as mentioned in his obituary, unbeatable at crib.

Sore high until we meet again.
