Left to mourn Henny’s passing are her children, Jeff (Janet) and Humphrey (Donna); grandchildren, Peter, David and Kevin; her sister, Els Werdmuller von Elgg as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack; son, Peter; parents, Bertus and Jeanette Zoetemeyer; brothers, Leen, Wim, Bert and Gerard as well as sisters, Netty, Corrie and Anneke. Henny was born the eighth of nine children in Mojokerto, Indonesia. After surviving several years in Japanese internment camps during the war, her family immigrated to the Netherlands in 1945, where she met Jack. They were married in 1953, and immigrated to Canada in 1954. After living briefly in Penticton, BC., Henny and Jack raised their family in Medicine Hat. She travelled extensively with Jack and made new friends on each journey. Henny had enduring friendships with the neighbours she met over the years. She loved to camp, garden, feed the wildlife in her yard, bowl, read, play cards and do crossword puzzles. The family would like to thank all of her friends, especially Marilyn and Dick Moser and Rose and John Weimer, for the friendship and support they provided to Henny and family over the many years. A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery. In recognition of Henny’s very generous nature, donations in her name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
