ROD SEITZ
Posted: April 12th, 2023 ROD SEITZ 1939 – 2023 Rod (Rodney) Seitz of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Loretta Seitz, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023, at the age of 83 years. Rod leaves to cherish his memory one son, Kelly (Tracey) Seitz; two grandchildren, Jamie (Jon) Schigol and Mason Seitz; one great-grandchild arriving very soon, Jon Mason Schigol; three sisters, Janice (Gary), Elaine (late, Don), Donna (late, Albert); and one brother, Randy (Sharon). Rod was predeceased by his wife, Loretta Seitz (May 2015); his son, Danny (April 2003); his parents Fred and Cora Seitz; and Loretta’s parents, Bertha and Lave Rieger. Rod was born in Medicine Hat and raised on the family farm at Little Plume. While still living on the Seitz family farm, Rod met the love of his life Loretta at the Elkwater stampede grounds, and they were later married on November 7, 1959. Rod and Loretta lived on the Seitz family farm at Little Plume for a few years where their first son, Kelly was born. Soon after they moved to Medicine Hat where their second son, Danny was born. In 1967, Rod and Loretta moved to Swift Current and opened a dry-cleaning business. They returned to their roots and families in Medicine Hat in 1978 where Rod owned and operated an overhead door store along with a rug laying business. In retirement Rod worked part-time at the Crestwood car wash. Rod and Loretta enjoyed socializing at the Medicine Hat Moose Lodge with friends, playing slot machines at the casino, listening to country music, camping, fishing, and golfing.
Rod had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Friday, April 14, 2023 with Life Celebrant David Townsend officiating.
