BOYD STEVENS 1936 – 2023

Boyd Edward Stevens of Bow Island, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the age of 89 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Sharon Schlinker of Medicine Hat; his niece Wendy Schlinker and his nephew Mark Schlinker. Boyd was predeceased by his parents Winnifred and Howard Stevens and one brother-in-law William Schlinker. Boyd attended school in Orion and furhtered his education at Tech School in Calgary in 1954. From 1954 to 2020 Boyd worked at Stevens Hardware and Garage, On Christmas day in December of 2016, the store front was destroyed by fire and in 2017, his office was rebuilt. Boyd enjoyed reading newspapers, history books and visiting at the Pleasant View Lodge – his last home. At this time, Boyd’s family would like to thank all the staff at the Pleasant View Lodge for the wonderful care he received. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.     Dear Sharon and family, please except our deepest condolences, on the passing of your brother Boyd. He was a kind and fun man. Our family had the pleasure of meeting yours when we arrived from England. I am so glad we made a trip to Orion a few years ago and visited with Boyd, Mable and Roy, Philip, and Marylou and Henry.     Hi . I watched video of Boyd Stevens sitting in front of his shop and continued it till his last breath. The memories of those time and the surreal feelings in that soil , wind brought him back to Orion. I just felt the strong urge of him to live there and purest commitment ever. Life is harsh. We emerge from soil to emerge in it one day. My deepest condolences.
