MARIAN DORIS HADLER October 17th, 1936 – July 15th, 2023
Marian Hadler passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2023, at the age of 86 years with family by her side. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Delbert Hadler; daughter, Lori (Doug) Streifel; grandchildren, Chad Hadler and Michelle (Chad) Hurlbert; great grandchildren, Jaxon Hadler, Rio Hadler, Jada Hurlbert (Damon Jahraus) and Camryn Hurlbert; daughter-in-law, Diane Hadler; brothers, Clarence (Eleanor) Knodel, Lawrence (June) Knodel, Jim (Val) Knodel and Albert (Gladys) Knodel; sister-in-law, Mary Knodel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian was predeceased by her son, Darrell Hadler in 2014; parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Knodel; brothers, Fred (Gladys) Knodel, Ben (Wynn) Knodel and Bill Knodel; sister, Rose (Art) Lehr.
Marian was born and raised on the family farm near Irvine, Alberta. After moving to Medicine Hat, Marian met her future husband while working at his family’s grocery business. She and Del were married in 1956 and were blessed with a son, Darrell, in 1957 and a daughter, Lori, in 1959. Marian loved being a homemaker and soon was an accomplished cook and baker as well as a gracious hostess. Fresh baked cookies were an after school must for her kids and many of their neighbourhood friends. Marian was involved in various Hillcrest Church activities over the many years. She had a strong Christian faith and prayed daily for her family. She enjoyed bowling, silk flower arranging and tending to her flower beds. Her two grandchildren were an absolute joy to her and she would go to great lengths to entertain them and make all their favourite treats each time they visited. In time, she was also blessed with four great-grandchildren to love. In later years she became a caregiver to Del, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease which eventually necessitated a move to Masterpiece Southland Meadows in 2021. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowlands for the kindness and care Marian has received over the past year while in Supportive Living.
A private Celebration of Life will be held. Donations in Marian’s memory may be made to the
