CLIFF POTTER December 21, 1948 ~ July 19, 2023
Clifford Ralph Potter passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish Cliff’s memory is his wife of 52 years, Lucille Potter; daughters, Lisa (Ian) Jerred and Stacy Potter (Keith Josephson). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, George Grant Potter, Carla Potter (Gompertz) as well as his sister, Carla Josephson.
Cliff was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on December 21, 1948, and attended Nutana High School where he graduated before going to SAIT where he obtained his red seal journeyman electrician certification. Cliff met Lucille on a double date and they were married on May 28, 1971. They became parents to two wonderful daughters, Lisa and Stacy. He started his electrical career with the City of Saskatoon and became a proud union member of the IBEW 424. He worked all over Canada and the United States with his family in tow before settling in Medicine Hat and making it their forever home in 1982. Cliff was also proud of achieving his lifeguard certification and really enjoyed swimming. Cliff was a hard worker and a respected landlord with extensive knowledge. He received many calls for tenancy advice and was all too happy to provide it. Cliff would strike up a conversation with anyone, even while on vacation and was well known in the community. He was very proud of his daughters and immensely supportive of them in all that they did. Ian and Keith were a large part of Cliff’s life, and he treated them both as if they were his own sons. Cliff’s love for his wife Lucille was extraordinary and without end. He loved to dote on her. They were best friends until the end. Many memories were made travelling as a family and going out for family dinners. Cliff loved to dine out, some of his favorites being chinese food and fish and chips; followed by toothpicks which he would leave a trail of everywhere. His favorite snack being popcorn. Cliff had a soft spot for animals and had several pets over the years. Throughout their lifetime, Cliff and Lucille went on many cruises, all-inclusive resort trips and a trip to Europe. When Cliff was young, he loved to race his Mustang up and down the main drag in Saskatoon. He enjoyed a friendly game of poker, fishing and conversing with family and friends. He was always prepared to give his advice or provide his opinion, which was always given with the best of intention. Cliff had a big heart and was very loved. He will be missed and never forgotten.
A Come and Go Celebration of Cliff’s life will be held in the Cook Southland Reception Facility, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, July 29, 2023, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
