ELROY SCHMIDT 1944 ~ 2023
The family of Elroy Schmidt are saddened to announce his passing at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the age of 79 years. Elroy was surrounded by a warm and loving family that adored and loved him beyond words. He was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved making sure his loved ones were always taken care of. His generosity was incomparable always lending a helping hand to anyone who needed one, always carrying around extras…’Just in case’ someone needed something, he was always prepared. Elroy was surrounded by special friends that he grew deep bonds with, creating special memories on hunting and fishing trips. He enjoyed exchanging stories, all of which he held close to his heart. He loved gathering with friends at coffee row and wouldn’t miss a day… so raise your cup and share a story with a friend in his memory! Elroy was beyond excited and preparing to leave in a few days for his fishing trip to his favorite spot with dear friends but left a few days early to go fishing on Heaven’s Lake (where there is no limit).

Gone Fishin’ I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me So put me on a boat headed out to sea Please send along my fishing pole For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole Where every day is a day to fish To fill your heart with every wish Don’t worry, or feel sad for me I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea We will miss each other for awhile But you will come and bring your smile That won’t be long you will see Till we’re together you and me To all those that think of me Be happy as I go out to sea If others wonder why I’m missin’ Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’

Elroy was cremated with dignity and his memory will be silently remembered by family and friends.
