LAINE BAKELAAR Sept. 12, 1925 – Aug. 26, 2023 On Saturday, August 26, 2023, our dear Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 97 years. Laine was predeceased by his wife, Jane and son, Edward. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Bill (Anne); grandchildren, Lana (Mark), Joya, Daniel (Crystal); great-grandchildren, James, Breanna, Lauryn, Bentley, Oakley and Hendriks; sister, Bep in Holland; brother-in-law, Henk (Ann) Vandenberg as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Rotterdam, Holland, Laine immigrated with his wife and two sons to Medicine Hat in 1957, where they raised their family. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care Laine received at Medicine Hat Meadowlands, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and Calgary AgeCare Glenmore. Special thanks to all the kind and caring staff as well. A Memorial Celebration of Laine’s life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain George Koopmans officiating. The service will be live-streamed and can be viewed at medicine hatcrc.org. Private interment will take place prior to the church service.
