Posted: September 13th, 2023 RAYMOND “RAY” WILLIAMS October 17, 1943 – September 6, 2023
It is with great sadness the family of Ray Williams announces his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the age of 79 years with family at his side.
After 44 years of marriage Ray is survived by his loving wife Carol Williams. His children Earl (September) Williams, Karry Williams, Cindy Williams, and predeceased by one son Shayne (Peggy) Williams. Carol’s children Wade (Liz) Stach, Terry (Lisa) Stach, Trevor (Debbie) Stach, and Bonnie Wallawein. He is also survived by twenty three grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew, Cheryl McCracken, Louise Herrewynen and Doug (Lola) Deschamp.
Ray was born in Saskatchewan to parents Arthur and Erna Williams. He had two sisters Margaret (Ross) Deschamp and Peggy (Cliff) Schmidt all of whom are predeceased. He grew up and resided in Admiral, Saskatchewan, moving to Alberta in the early 1970’s.
His career had him highway trucking and eventually being owner/operator of his own truck. Due to ill health he had a career change and worked for Action Parts for 10 plus years. Following that time he purchased a gravel truck and worked for South Rock throughout Southern Alberta until health had him retire to coffee at Trukkers, golfing and coffee at Paradise Valley Golf Course with the guys.
Ray loved travelling and recreation including fishing, snowmobiling in B.C., then moving on to his 1983 Goldwing motorcycle. These trips took Ray and Carol to Prince George, Victoria and around Alberta. Then came his pride and joy, his 2000 Silverado Chev truck and holiday trailer taking them camping with friends, local camping with the Good Sam’s RV Club, and going to Fairmont Hot Springs for three weeks annually. For several years winter holidays took Ray and Carol to Osoyoos, B.C. for a month. Ray enjoyed his association with the Medicine Hat Optimist Club. Donations may be made to A.J.’s Loan Cupboard (Alan Joys Memorial Fund Society) Box 45006, McKenzie Postal Outlet, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 7H3. Thank you to nurse Marsha on 5 West, Dr. Mastel, Dr. Scholtz, and Dr. Tessier. Thank you to family, friends and neighbors for the support of food and kindness shown.
