WALLACE JAMES WINTER February 8th, 1950 – September 7th, 2023 On September 7, 2023, Wallace James Winter of Burstall, SK left this earth to meet his Lord and Saviour as he crossed the threshold into eternal life in Heaven. Born in Medicine Hat, AB on February 8, 1950, Wallace spent his life farming the land that he loved in the town where he grew up.
Wallace will be remembered by his wife, June of 53 years and his six children: Dana Myers of Calgary, AB; Joanne Winter (Etienne-Rene) of Ottawa, ON; Aaron Winter (Natalie) of Medicine Hat, AB; Pamela Winter of Sherwood Park, AB; Sarah Rajotte (Remy) of Wainwright, AB; and Jewel Heer (John) of Gadsby, AB. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, Elya, Marissa, Janae, Alexandre, Paige (Chris), Tanner (Maddy), Erica (Cale), Luke, Wyatt, Cole, Evan, Abigail, Sadie, Hannah, Bailey and one great grandchild, Porter; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his sister, Jeanette Stach of Medicine Hat, AB and brother, Harold (Darlene) Winter of Leader, SK and his aunt, Molly (Winter) Fischbach of Edmonton, AB. Wallace was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Hilda (Becker) Winter.
With farming as his lifelong work and passion, Wallace also successfully served many years as a delegate for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool representing and advocating for farmers on the prairies. Outside of grain farming and raising cattle, Wallace also loved his time at church as well as camping, hunting, fishing, shopping for the best deal out there, travelling and spending time with friends and family. Up until his passing, Wallace dedicated his time and energy to spreading God’s Word as part of ShareWord Global (formerly known as Gideons International in Canada) and believed strongly in Jesus’ instructions to “go and make disciples of all the nations.”
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Wainwright Health Centre for the love, care and comfort they bestowed on Wallace in his final days. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 1:30pm at Burstall Evangelical Missionary Church in Burstall, SK with Pastor Fred Sirett and Pastor Art Hildebrand co-officiating.
