CHARLES AMBROSE GUTFRIEND
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Ambrose Gutfriend at the Foothills Country Hospice on September 9, 2023. Charles, fondly known as Chuck, was born to Ambrose and Rose Gutfriend on April 25, 1943 in Leader, SK. He grew up on the family farm in Saskatchewan and attended school at Krupp, St Thomas College and Mendham High. He later moved to Medicine Hat to attend Garbutt’s Business College. Chuck and Eva (Bernie) married in May 1965 and he then worked in construction where he achieved his journeyman plumber certification. He enjoyed his career for 37 years, working in Medicine Hat, the Greater Vancouver area and Calgary until he retired at age 69. Chuck spent his retirement years tackling plumbing projects for his friends and neighbours in the condo where he lived, enjoying time with his wife and family at their lake property, volunteering at the Okotoks Mission Thrift Store and most importantly, spending time with family at gatherings and sporting events.

Chuck will be forever remembered by his wife Eva, his son Dennis and granddaughters, Cassandra, Brianna and Amelia. His son Darren (Patty) and grandchildren Ava and Max. His daughter Elissa (Jerry) and grandchildren Elix, Jonah and Elyn. He will also be missed by his many longtime friends and those from the condo, resort property and volunteering. Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Ambrose and Rose.

Chuck’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to all that offered their support as well as to the High River Hospital Palliative Care Unit and all the staff and volunteers at the Foothills Country Hospice for their comforting care.

A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Foothills Country Hospice Society in Chuck’s name.
