STERN, ARTHUR August 10, 1940 October 30, 2023
It is with great sorrow the family of Arthur (Archie) Stern announces his passing on Monday, October 30, 2023 peacefully at Glengarda in Saskatoon at the age of 83. Archie is survived by his wife Pauline of 63 years; two daughters Cindy (Graig) and Tracy (Stan); four grandchildren Taylor (Katrina), Logan (Maddy), Tanner (Felicity), and Zakery. He is also survived by two brothers Harold Stern and Ken (Lil) Stern, two sisters-in-laws Doreen Hauck and Alice Hauck as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Darrell, parents Allen and Christina Stern, brother and sister-in-law Howard and June Stern as well as several other family members. Archie was born on August 10, 1940 at the family farm near Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan. At the age of 8 he moved with his family to Medicine Hat where he grew up. On June 11, 1960 Archie married the love of his life Pauline Hauck. Together they were blessed with three wonderful children and four amazing grandchildren. Archie worked as a shipper for the Medicine Hat Greenhouses starting in 1956. He worked there for 24 years. In 1980 the family moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where Archie was the General Manager of Florist Supply Norsask Ltd. until he retired at age 55. Archie always loved to travel and was lucky enough to see most of Canada, lots of the US, Mexico, Columbia and Europe. He really loved the years spent in Yuma, Arizona and Emma Lake, Saskatchewan. His passion was fishing. He loved fishing with his family especially the grandchildren. He easily made friends with people both young and old. He always wanted to help everyone and always had a tool or machine to lend out. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Hospice at Glengarda during the last two weeks of his life. They made his days enjoyable and filled with laughter. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospice at Glengarda.
