RONALD ANTON BOLEN
Posted: February 10th, 2024 RONALD ANTON BOLEN February 6, 1947 – February 8, 2024
Ronald Anton Bolen passed away on February 8, 2024, the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife Joyce Bolen; children, Jason (Jennifer) Bolen and Bonnie (Dean) Bischke; stepsons Ryan and Quinn Stewart. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Tyler and McKenzie Bolen and Haylee and Kacia Bischke; his beloved dog, Avya; sister, Joan Bolen; brother, Dennis Bolen, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was born and raised in Arbothnot, Saskatchewan and then lived in several communities throughout his life in Alberta before settling in Medicine Hat to spend the last few years of his life, accumulating lasting friendships everywhere he went. He worked 37 years in the gas and oilfield spending the last years of his work with Direct Energy and was incredibly proud of the clean driving record he maintained throughout his career and the over 2 million kilometres he drove during those years. Anyone who knew Ron will remember him for his unfailing ability to find a reason to laugh and make a joke about anything no matter what the situation may be. He always had a smile to share and loved to spend time with family and friends alike and loved to cuddle up at nights with his wife, Joyce and his beloved puppy, Avya. Ron loved to golf and became an avid reader later in life who loved all different genres of books. One of his fondest memories he had was of purchasing the cabin in Elkwater and spending a number of years there with his beloved wife, Joyce. Together, he and Joyce travelled and enjoyed many cities around the world. His favourite saying was, ‘if you can’t laugh about it, what’s the point of living’, and he lived this philosophy right to the end. His passing leaves a giant hole for those left behind and he will be deeply missed.
A special thank you to all the staff on 5 East and 4 East at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for their amazing care during the last days of Ron’s life and a special thank you to Helen for her loving care in his last hours.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
