JERYL ANDERSON 1950 – 2024
Jeryl Lynn Anderson of Medicine Hat, AB, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on March 23rd, 2024 at the age of 73 years. Jeryl was born on October 21, 1950, in Frontier Saskatchewan, to parents Anthony and Jeanne Leger. Jeryl was blessed with many siblings and a house full of love and laughter. Jeryl was raised on a farm at Divide Saskatchewan, and went to school in a one-room school from grades 1-7 then finished her formal education in Frontier. In 1969, Jeryl opened her own hairstyling business in Frontier and served the surrounding community for the next 40 years. During this time, Jeryl took great pride in raising her two daughters and spending quality time with her family and friends.
In 1993, Jeryl married her best friend, Donnie Anderson, and together they looked after the farm, traveled the world, and spent countless beautiful moments together. In 2008, Jeryl and Donnie moved to Medicine Hat.
Jeryl was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandma, and a special friend to many people all over the world. She was well-known for her many talents, including her exceptional sewing skills, photography, wreath-making, scrapbooking, and of course her baking!
Jeryl was a kind soul who was known for her hospitality and was always delighted when people stopped in for coffee and a visit. She was a shining light in many people’s lives and her vibrant personality continues to reverberate in our hearts.
Those who knew her, knew she loved her family, the simple life, and Elvis Presley. Although Jeryl is no longer with us, her interminable determination, strength and her zest for life will forever be her legacy.
Jeryl is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Anderson; her daughter’s father, Garry Bakken, remarkable daughters, Rayann (Jason) Jarman, Stacie (Chris) Bakken; cherished grandchildren, Drayton (Casey) Deshryver, Landon (Maddy) Jarman, Jaida Deschryver, Chase Jarman and Dalen Jarman; one great-grandchild; loving siblings, David (Darlene) Leger, Gail Lightfoot, Darcy (Graham) Mazurek, Cecile Leger and Joanne Behrman; and her dear nieces and nephews.
Jeryl is predeceased by her parents; Anthony and Jeanne Leger; siblings, Brian Leger, Eldon Leger, Dean Leger, and infant sister Marie Leger; fathers and mothers in-law, Jim (Georgette) Anderson, and Helmer (Ida) Bakken; brothers-in-law, Jim Lightfoot and Lloyd Bakkeli; and nephews, Troy Leger and Tyler Lightfoot.
Please join us in celebrating Jeryl’s life Saturday afternoon April 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the BETHEL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Frontier. A reception will follow the service in the Frontier Hall.
In lieu of flowers or donations, put a pot of coffee on, put some cookies in the oven and invite an old friend over for a visit – Jeryl would appreciate it. To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
