LEONARD JAMES “JIM” REICH January 28, 1940 March 21, 2024
Leonard James “Jim” Reich passed on peacefully in his home in Leduc County on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of 84.
Jim is survived by his wife Bev, children; Richard Reich, Lisa Reich, (mother, Inge van Montfort of Medicine Hat) Leanne Guenther (Martin Guenther), and Brett Powlesland (Carla Hunter); grandchildren, Emelie Guenther, Kayla Guenther, Nicolas Hanson, Taelynn Powlesland, Danika Powlesland, and Gage Powlesland; siblings, Marie Tschritter, Genevieve Exley, Allan Hneeda, and Linda Gray. Jim was predeceased by his parents Leo and Dorothy Reich.
Jim was born on January 28th, 1940 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He graduated from NAIT in 1973 with a diploma in Respiratory Therapy. Prior to starting his career in Respiratory Therapy, Jim spent several years working on the railroad in Medicine Hat.
As a Respiratory therapist he worked in in the Medicine Hat Hospital and several in Edmonton, Alberta in the ICU and operating rooms. Jim married Bev Reich in 1983 and he became a loving stepfather to his children, Leanne and Brett. Jim’s wife and children remember him as a husband and father who was kind, gentle, patient and loving. He was passionate about his family as well woodworking, crafting, and Dragons. He was a generous, incredibly witty, dedicated individual for whom family was everything.
Jim will be forever missed by all who love him.
There will be no funeral service, just a small private family gathering.
