GARY WHITNEY
Posted: April 26th, 2024 GARY WHITNEY March 17, 1942 ~ April 22, 2024
Gary Whitney of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Linda Whitney, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 82 years. Along with Linda, Gary leaves to cherish his memory: children, Joanne (Ken) Sundholm and Mike (Nicole) Whitney; grandchildren, Cassidy, Tyson (Courtney), Logan, Kaden, Dane and Avery; sister, Linda Bower as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Burt and Bunny Whitney as well as his first wife, Marilyn. Gary grew-up on and eventually farmed at the family farm in Webb, Saskatchewan. He attended school in the local area and proudly drove the school bus through his last high school years. He was a great story teller, and told many stories of memories of school, farm life, dances, baseball games and curling bonspiels. Gary became an avid hockey fan, following his own son’s teams and cheering on the Swift Current Broncos. When hockey season was over, he had his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders to cheer on, believing “There’s always next year” if they didn’t make it that season. Gary was active in his communities, his kids schools and his church. He loved to play cards and could count a hand of crib faster than anyone! He passed his love of cards on to his grandchildren, the game of black ball will live on! Gary (Papa to his grandchildren) was proud of all his grandchildren and enjoyed attending as many of their activities as he could. Gary was a big presence, loved by many and will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Gary’s life will be held at the Webb Community Hall in Webb, SK., on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Family encourage all of their relatives and friends to attend this come and go luncheon and to do what Gary loved the most which was visiting and telling stories while sharing memories and laughter.
