Florence Betty Sandau, beloved wife of the late Herbert Sandau, passed away peacefully in the Paradise Pines wing of the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility in Maple Creek on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the age of 88 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Valerie (Lyle) Mutter, Dale (Brenda) Sandau and Darren (Marcia) Sandau; five grand- children, Travis (Robyn) Douglas, Jennine (Eric) Beck, Amanda (Taylor) Smith, Riley Sandau and Kolton Matuska; five great-grandchildren, Laramie Douglas, Averie and Asher Beck, Tristyn and Ayden Samoila; one sister, Von (Wilf) Mann as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Herb; parents, Ida and Earl Chadwick; three brothers, Clarence, Russell and Don and her sister, Edith. Florence was born on December 28,1935, in Medicine Hat. She was raised and attended school in the Kealey Springs area until her parents moved to Maple Creek. Florence began her working career as a sales clerk at Kitsons Drugs but was interrupted by requiring open heart surgery to remove a growth. After fully recovering and returning to work, she married Herbert Sandau on October 26, 1961. She and Herb lived in Maple Creek but farmed west of town. Florence continued to work as a clerk for many years at Rexall, IGA and lastly Duncans Pharmacy until she retired in 2004. She enjoyed working on the farm, riding on the tractor or combine, gardening as well as exercising and playing cards with the ladies at the Senior Center until she developed Alzheimers which required full time care in the Integrated Facility in Maple Creek. A Celebration of Florence’s life will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 501 Harder Street, Maple Creek, SK., on Saturday May 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Creek Cemetery with a time of fellowship to follow thereafter at the Royal Canadian Legion.
