Param’s educational journey took her from early education in Sri Lanka to specialising in Health & Physical Education in India to completing her Master’s in Education in the United States, showcasing her dedication to learning and growth. A respected elementary school teacher, Param’s career spanned from high school and junior high teaching to shaping young minds at the elementary level. She taught in Medicine Hat from 1969 until 1987, when she moved to California to continue her teaching career there until her retirement. Among her notable achievements was earning a scholarship for her Master’s Degree and being honoured with the award “Who’s Who Among American Teachers.” These accolades reflect her commitment to education and her exceptional impact on her students.
Param married Sara Pavan in 1974 and they shared many happy years together until his passing in 2013. After retiring in 2005, they returned to Medicine Hat, where Param enjoyed her retirement until moving to Edmonton in July 2024 to be closer to her family in her later years. Her move to Edmonton allowed her to be surrounded by loved ones during her final weeks.
Param took immense pride in her independence and active lifestyle, and had a zest for life that was evident in her diverse interests. She enjoyed line dancing, cribbage, bingo, and exploring casinos. Her passions also extended to travelling, fishing, gardening, and reading, all of which she embraced with enthusiasm and joy.

Her family was her greatest joy, and her generosity and loving nature touched the lives of many.
