SIMON SCHAFER 1930 – 2024
Simon Schafer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the age of 93 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Lenora (Elroy) Horst of Medicine Hat; brother-in-law Archie Culbert of Regina; sister-in-law Katie Schafer of Medicine Hat and a dear friend Betty McCaig of Medicine Hat as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Wendlen and Margaret Schafer; three brothers, John Schafer, Michael Schafer and Leo Schafer; two sisters, Clementine Frederick and Rosemarie Culbert. Simon was born on a farm near Schuler where he farmed until he retired and moved to Medicine Hat. He bowled for a number of years but his greatest enjoyment was going for breakfast and coffee breaks at Humpty’s. As a pastime he loved to just drive around. Simon lived in his own home until his illness progressed. We would like to thank the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, St. Joseph’s Home and the Good Samaritan Society for their care of Simon. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Tuesday evening, August 20th at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH (1451 Strachan Road S.E) on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr.
