Joy Thomson, beloved wife of Carman Thomson, passed away on Monday, October 7th, at the age of 85 years. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Joy met Carman at Nutana Collegiate and they were married May 3rd, 1958. Leaving Saskatoon, they moved to Regina and then home to Medicine Hat.
Carman and Joy settled into life in Medicine Hat and met many lifelong friends after joining Kinsmen and Kinettes. Teaching piano, gardening, being a skilled seamstress and forever renovating their home kept her busy. Carman and Joy enjoyed travelling and were fortunate to have visited many great parts of the world. Winter trips to Phoenix to see Karen and Penge Semrau was always a highlight. Joy loved volunteering at the Esplanade, she met many wonderful friends and was very proud of her “work”.
Joy leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Carman; children, Patti (Larry) Jarvis and their children, Jenni (Jeff) Fraser, Jeff (Nicole) Jarvis, Scott (Morgan) Jarvis; Kara Mock and her children, Don (McKenzie) Mock, Katie (Spencer) Skinner; Mike (Margaret) Thomson and their children, Tyson and Cameron Thomson. She also had beloved great grandchildren, Stella and Kade, Gage and Parker, and Carmen. Joy was predeceased by her son, Don. She will be forever loved and missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in Joy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by

Sincerely. Dave and carol fischer. Kelowna, BC.
My thoughts are with your family at this time. I was a volunteer with Joy at the Esplanade we had many fun adventures over the years. I’m sure she told you lots about the Cape children and her adventures with them. This year hasn’t been the same without her. There there are many that will miss her.
Sending heartfelt condolences to the family. Joy was a remarkable woman. Smart, talented, hard working, and always sweet and kind. She made an ever lasting impression on all of us. xo
I’m profoundly saddened to learn today of the passing of Mrs. T. My condolences go to Patty, Kara, Mike & Mr. T. My heart goes out to you all as I know how much she meant to you. I owe Mr. T & specifically Mrs. T a great depth of gratitude for so many things. Firstly, you rescued me and welcomed me into her home even under the protest of your daughters at a time when I was lost and if it were not for you, I would have never returned to & make it through high school & eventually college. I can hear you say Mrs. T the things you looked for in a man were clean finger nails & shoes. That’s me. You shared with me & still to this day I always have a couple of hundred bucks tucked away in my wallet like Mr. T has. Just in case. You helped me become a avid reader and a lover of the piano. I shudder to think of what I may have become if it were not for your compassion, determination, feistiness & class. When The Thomson’s introduced me to golf you said that “golf is a gentlemen’s sport” and if you heard I ever threw a club you would never take me golfing again. I have never thrown a club. I recently introduced my 7 year old grandson to golf here at our home in Florida & I told Danielito the same thing. It’s the little things. My heart is saddened today for this loss. I hope you appreciated before your passing that because of people like you Mrs. Thomson, I made out just fine. I thank you Mr. & Mrs. Thomson from the bottom of my heart for you being the ones who gave a damn about me. I love you Mrs. Thomson. Rest in peace.
Respectfully
Vince
