Posted: November 14th, 2024 1940 – MARGRET BUTLER – 2024 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margret Anna Butler, who left us on November 8, 2024, at the age of 84 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Margret was the proud daughter of Oscar and Anna Marie Doerfel. Born on May 26, 1940, in Buttelstedt, Germany, Margret brought her spirit of love and resilience to every life she touched. Margret was the beloved wife of Robert Butler, with whom she shared a remarkable 63 years of marriage. Their love story was one of unwavering dedication and support, a partnership that stood as a testament to the beauty of devotion. Together, they created a nurturing home where their family thrived. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her sons, Michael (Trina) and Stephan; and an adoring lineage that includes grandchildren Ryan, Jarrett, Garin, Christian, Marissa, Marsali (Chris), and Neacaile (Barry). Margret’s legacy continues with her great-grandchildren, Nellie, Brynlee, Callum, and Darby, each of whom she held close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Marie Doerfel. Margret faced numerous health challenges throughout her life, yet her deep love for family never wavered. She expressed this love through her exceptional cooking, creating meals that brought everyone together. An avid bowler, Margret was renowned for her prowess on the lanes, boasting one of the highest bowling averages among seniors in Medicine Hat, with an impressive average score of over 200 points. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, a cause close to Margret’s heart. As we say goodbye to Margret, we celebrate a life full of love, laughter, and lessons. She was the strongest woman we’ve ever known, and she leaves behind a family who will carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. We find solace in the memories of her laughter, her cooking, and her unwavering support. Margret Anna Butler, you will be deeply missed and quietly remembered. May you fly with the angels surrounded by the love you so generously gave, free from pain and suffering. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to
