MARY ELIZABETH BAIRD
Posted: November 15th, 2024 MARY ELIZABETH BAIRD November 12, 1940 November 12, 2024 Treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mary Elizabeth Baird was given the greatest gift by God on the night of her birthday, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, when she entered her forever reward in the kingdom of Heaven during the playing of her late husband’s favourite song, the legendary “Red River Valley.” Born in 1940, Mary lived an amazing life, raising a loving family, showing herself a witness to her boundless faith in Jesus Christ and having travelled from her humble origins on a farm in Vilna, Alberta to such exotic places as Rome, the Caribbean Sea and Aruba, just to name a few. Mary touched many lives and made countless friends, bringing smiles, joy and love to everyone who knew her, offering a helping hand or a word of Godly advice to anyone who needed it. She was a director of World Missionary Fellowship, was active in the Church of God for many years, and loved spending time with her family and friends, including those among the residents and staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Medicine Hat. Mary loved playing cards, reading, and fishing. Mary had a full and unique sense of humour and always shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ down to her very last day on Earth, when she told her children and their families to “stay close to Jesus, so we can all be together again.” Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Al Baird, and is survived by her brothers Ed and Tony; numerous nieces and nephews; her children, Al (Sue), Jackie (Adam), Jonn (Nikki); grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan (Nicole), Jessica, Adam, Branden, Drayden, Dalten (Marissa), Robin (Jackson), Maryssa, Noah, Will (Kela), Alex; and many beautiful great-grandchildren. We are all grateful for the blessing of her, and she will be so desperately missed. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, celebration of life will be private. We met our Friends All and Mary Baird in Red Deer in 1965 and spent so many happy times together in Blairmore and Medicine Hat .
Good Friends are forever and to pick up the phone and chat was like continuing a conversation from 5 minutes before even if it had been six months or more. Our children grew up playing together , so lucky!
It is so hard to lose someone that is so special but know that they are together now singing the praises of the Lord!
Best to the Family and so glad you all got to spend so much happy times together over the years.
