MYRTLE JOHNSTON 1929 – 2025 Myrtle Florence Johnston of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Jack Johnston, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 95 years. Myrtle was born in Calgary, Alberta to Thomas and Catherine (Kay) Jones. Myrtle worked at various careers from waiting tables when she was younger to working as Accounting Clerks when she got older. Myrtle loved life. She liked to be around people laughing and having fun right up until her death. Her feisty attitude was mentioned lots from several of her caregivers at the various nursing homes she was in and certainly by all who knew her.
Myrtle married Reg Magnuson on December 31, 1949. They had two children. Peter was born on May 24, 1951, and Patricia was born January 1, 1954. They lived in Calgary and Edmonton until their divorce.
Myrtle and her children moved to a farm in Okotoks with her parents Tom and Kay. The family has many great memories of our life there. There was always something happening at Granny and Grampa’s. Myrtle married Jack Johnston on February 18, 1972, and moved to Spokane Washington, USA. She remained there until 2007 when she moved to Medicine Hat to be closer to family.

She is survived by her son Pete (Wendy) Magnuson, grandchildren Trevor (Jenny), Tyler (Arie), Shannon (Chad), Sheri (Brad), Marti (Nadine) and her daughter Pat (Dwight) Kimber, grandchildren Mike (Martha) and Tom (Amber) as well as several great and great-great grandchildren.
