BARRY UNREINER 1954 ~ 2025

With broken hearts the family of Barry Unreiner announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, March 4, 2025.  Barry was born May 8,1954, and raised on the family farm at Schuler, Alberta.  The family moved to Medicine Hat in 1970, where Barry completed his education at Medicine Hat High School.  He obtained his journeyman welding certificate but decided to change careers and joined the Medicine Hat Police Service in 1976.  After 30 years, Barry retired as Staff Sergeant having the honour and privilege of serving under the direction of six Chiefs of Police.

In 2005, Barry began his second career as a Corporate Safety Manager in oilfield construction.  After 12 years, it was finally time to retire for good and spend more time with family and farming.  Both careers afforded Barry many opportunities for travel, and new experiences and adventures.  Barry and lngret married in 1987.  Brianne was born in 1988 and four years later Brendan arrived to complete their family.  Barry enjoyed travel with friends and family, whether it was to Vegas, the Maritimes or some tropical destination.  He spent many hours team roping in his younger days and then enjoyed playing recreation and old-timers hockey.

Unfortunately, in 2020 Barry was diagnosed with dementia and resided at Sunnyview Care Center for the past 3 years.
